Superb small ashtray in gilt bronze with intricately carved decorations of roses by Paul Louchet (1854-1936), France Romantic/Art Nouveau Period late 19th century. Signed "Louchet Ciseleur".

In very good condition. Slight oxidation.

Paul Louchet was trained by Jules Lefebvre and Henri Harpignies. He exhibited at the Paris Salon.

He was first a sculptor, bronzemaker and chiseller, his workshop being located at 3, rue Auber in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. A friend of Louis Majorelle, Jean Daum and René Lalique, he was president of the Chambre syndicale des fabricants de bronze.
