A magnificent chandelier by the Muller Frères manufacture — a gilded frame supporting peacock-motif decorations in the French Art Deco manner. The Muller Frères, working in Lunéville from the 1890s onwards, produced some of the glassware of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, their work collected on equal terms with the great Nancy manufacturers.
The peacock, with its associations of beauty and pride, is a quintessentially Art Deco subject.
