Some of the few existing copies of this rare vase were chosen to be associated with a metalwork frame decoration by Henry Van de Velde et Andre Debain for La Maison Moderne.

Henry Van de Velve was, as was Paul Hankar and Victor Horta, a founder of the Belgian Art Nouveau movement. All of his projects and creations show a profound attachment to the abstract and curvilinear movement of the new style, so different from the French or German naturalistic decoration.
