A superb and rare vase from the Val Saint Lambert crystal manufacture in Belgium, painted with an astronomical decorative programme of stars, galaxies and suns against a deep ground. The piece is unsigned but has been certified by an independent expert.
Val Saint Lambert, founded in 1826 in the Liège region, produced some of the decorative glassware in Europe — comparable in ambition and technique to the great French houses.
Good condition, scratches on the base, slight fading of gilding, firing chip on the inside edge of the vase.
