About the artist and the period

René Anchierri (1905-1987) was a French ceramist who worked for nearly 60 years as a potter, designer, decorator and small-scale manufacturer. After settling in Mirabel-aux-Baronnies (Drôme) in 1972, he was freed from commercial production and commissions, and entered an experimental period (1972-1987), exploring new techniques and materials, including raku, where he drew inspiration from his worldly travels. He created a small output of unique pieces, some dated and signed "AR", not intended for sale.

This bowl comes from that experimental period, which is consistent with the artist's signature "AR" inside a circle and a separated line and the use of raku.

Some of his works were donated to the museums of Orléans and Annecy in 1992.
